PRESS RELEASE For Immediate Release IS MY BILL HIGH? LAUNCHES GLOBAL PRICE INDEX COVERING 30+ COUNTRIES Crowdsourced bill data and official reference data combined to rank countries by household costs across 8 categories February 2026 — Is My Bill High? (ismybillhigh.com), the crowdsourced bill comparison platform, has launched its Global Price Index — a country-by-country ranking of household bill costs across 8 categories. The index ranks countries by median monthly cost for electricity, gas, water, broadband, mobile, car insurance, home insurance, and health insurance. It draws on two data sources: crowdsourced bills submitted by users, and official reference data from national regulators, the International Energy Agency (IEA), Eurostat, and the International Telecommunication Union (ITU). KEY FEATURES: - Country Rankings: Countries ranked by median monthly cost in USD for each of the 8 bill categories. - Three Comparison Views: Raw USD costs, PPP-adjusted values (accounting for differences in purchasing power between countries), and affordability ratios (bill cost as a percentage of median household income). - Bundle Indices: Combined rankings for Household Bills (electricity + gas + water + broadband), Connectivity (broadband + mobile), and Insurance (car + home + health). - Real-World Comparisons: Relatable cost benchmarks calculated from local utility rates — such as the cost of a 10-minute hot shower, running a home office for a day, or charging an electric vehicle. - Country Profiles: Detailed pages for each country showing costs across all categories and how they rank globally. - Head-to-Head Comparison: Side-by-side comparison tool for any two countries. - Downloadable Data: All datasets available in CSV and JSON format. DATA METHODOLOGY: Where a country has sufficient crowdsourced bills (20+), those are used. For countries without enough crowdsourced data, the index falls back to official reference data from regulators and international agencies. PPP conversion factors and median household income data are sourced from the World Bank (2024). As more bills are submitted from each country, the crowdsourced data gradually replaces the official reference data, producing increasingly localised and current results. AVAILABILITY: The Global Price Index is freely available at https://ismybillhigh.com/global Bulk datasets can be downloaded at https://ismybillhigh.com/global/data ABOUT IS MY BILL HIGH?
